Short description:
The Review: Lena Willemark is one of the truly great singers. She is a respected musician; an international artist who has played a part in a large number of critically acclaimed recordings. For Lena Willemark the solo-artist, only one record in her own name has previously been released. It is now slightly over ten years since "När som gräset det vajar" (Amigo AMCD 722) made its appearance. Windogur, is made up of a suite of songs with accompanying lyrics, most of them in the regional language of Älvdalen, the music written by Lena Willemark. "Windogur" is a musical journey that starts and ends within Lena's own origins. The title means windows in the Älvdalen tongue. It's through these openings - these windows - that the music flows. Swedish folk-music serves as a root system, colored by the participating musicians' different musical worlds; Pianist Bobo Stenson and bassist Palle Danielsson come from jazz. They have been to the East, in the Balkans and in India, and have now returned home. The string-trio with Staffan Larson, Mikael Marin and Mats Olofsson all come from different directions, but are now steering towards a common goal. And the Danish percussionist, Lisbeth Diers, brings along a well-assorted set of baggage that she has collected from all over the world. Lena Willemark - song and fiddle, Bobo Stenson - piano, Palle Danielsson - double bass, Lisbeth Diers - percussion, Staffan Larson - fiddle, Mikael Marin - viola and Mats Olofsson - cello. Key words:
