Review |
| | Groupa plays it's own brand of folkmusic. The original band was founded in 1980 and has been a vanguard of the folk music scene in Sweden since then. In the music of Groupa you will find a composed picture of the traditions of yesterday, the whims of today and the possibilities of the future. As on the latest album, Imeland. The music has been given freer reins and new colours have been added. Exerting themselves in the joy of drawing new dimensions from the music, although now utilising modern musical tools such as synthesizers. In 1991 their album Månskratt was awarded the swedish Grammy. Imeland is the band's fifth album and their second Grammy winner. "Imeland is a masterpiece. Hardly anyone has ever taken the Scandinavian folkmusic to new places with greater intelligence and zest than this quartet. Now Groupa sounds more free, selfconfident, and muscular than ever before." Alexander Agrell, Sydsvenskan 18/9-95. |
